Product Mapping Guide

Learn how to connect your size charts to products so customers see the right recommendations on each product page.

How Product Mapping Works

Product mapping tells SizeMind which size chart to use for each product. When a customer visits a product page, SizeMind checks the mappings to find the appropriate chart and display the size finder.

📝 Note

Products without a mapping won't show the size finder widget. Make sure all your sized products have a corresponding mapping.

Match Types

SizeMind offers several ways to connect products to size charts:

1. Product Type

Matches products based on the "Product type" field in Shopify.

  • Example: Product type "T-Shirt" → "Women's Tops" chart
  • Best for: Stores with consistent product type naming
  • Available on: All plans

2. Product Tag

Matches products that have a specific tag.

  • Example: Tag "size-chart-women" → "Women's Clothing" chart
  • Best for: Flexible organization when types aren't enough
  • Available on: Starter & Professional

3. Collection

Matches all products within a Shopify collection.

  • Example: Collection "Summer Dresses" → "Dresses" chart
  • Best for: Category-based sizing
  • Available on: Starter & Professional

4. Specific Product

Maps a single product directly to a chart.

  • Example: Product ID "gid://shopify/Product/123" → Custom chart
  • Best for: Unique products with special sizing
  • Available on: Professional only

Priority System

When a product matches multiple mappings, SizeMind uses the most specific one:

PriorityMatch TypeDescription
1 (Highest)Specific ProductExact product match
2CollectionProduct is in collection
3TagProduct has the tag
4 (Lowest)Product TypeProduct type matches
💡 Example

If you have a "T-Shirt" product type mapping AND a specific product mapping for the same item, the specific product mapping wins.

Creating Mappings

Method 1: From Mappings Page

1

Go to Mappings

In SizeMind, click "Mappings" in the navigation.

2

Click "Add Mapping"

Opens the mapping creation form.

3

Select Match Type

Choose how to identify products (Type, Tag, Collection, or Product).

4

Enter Match Value

Specify the value to match (e.g., "T-Shirt" for product type).

5

Choose Size Chart

Select which chart these products should use.

Method 2: Quick Assign from Size Chart

You can also create mappings directly from a size chart:

  1. Open the size chart you want to assign
  2. Scroll to "Quick Assign Products" section
  3. Add mappings directly

Best Practices

Start with Product Types

Product type mappings are the simplest. If your store uses consistent product types, start here:

  • "T-Shirt" → Tops chart
  • "Jeans" → Bottoms chart
  • "Dress" → Dresses chart

Use Tags for Exceptions

For products that need different sizing than their type suggests, use tags:

  • An oversized T-Shirt could have tag "size-chart-oversized"
  • A fitted dress could have tag "size-chart-bodycon"

Review Unmapped Products

Regularly check for products without mappings:

  1. Go to your store's product list
  2. Visit product pages to verify the widget appears
  3. Create new mappings as you add products
⚠️ Common Mistake

Avoid creating overlapping mappings with the same priority. If a product has two tags that map to different charts, results may be inconsistent.
